Tandas are played in sets of 3 for vals and milonga and 4 for tangos. There is usually a chacarera played at the end of the night, after La Cumparsita.
Feel free to change partners between each tanda, or contiue with your existing partner. We do ask though that you clear the floor between tandas.
Menuda uses a unique track display system, written in-house. The track display will show the name of the current track playing, together with the singer and orchestra. During the cortina, the track display will show what is coming next. E.g. Next - Tango (Juan D'Arienzo). Read more...
LANES: Follow the lanes and try to avoid changing lanes as much as possible. If you do wish to overtake someone, then do so to the inside.
Usually at Menuda, there will be two lanes, and on very busy days, a third may open in the middle.
SPACE: Try and leave equal spacing between couples. If there's a large gap between you and the couple in front, it's likely that you're holding up people behind you. But allow the couple in front enough space to turn. They won't be able to see you until they turn.
CODES & INFO
Everyone is free to dance in the way that suits them. Each dancer has a unique style in tango and we wish everyone to be able to express themselves in their own way. Similarly, we want you to feel comfortable at Menuda. Please dress for your your own style and comfort.
We don't wish to be forceful about rules, but we do want everyone that turns up to Menuda to enjoy themselves. This simple guide on the expected behavious and codes of Menuda ensures everyone has a great time.
ENTER: Join the ronda of the milonga in a place where there is room. Don't step straight out onto the floor, but ensure that the couple to your left are aware that you would like to enter. They will often give you a sign that they are waiting for you to join the ronda.
CABECEO: Mirada and cabeceo works and most dancers like to invite and be invited this way. Roam around and pick your position so when the first bars of the tanda starts, you can try out your cabeceo skills.
Try not to block other people's cabeceo as much as possible.
CAMERAS: Menuda is currently a photo and video free milonga. This is so that everyone can dance without feeling like there is any intrusion into the moment.
